SONATA ZALEPLON
Sonata is a sedative, also called a
hypnotic and brand name for Zaleplon. So:
SONATA = ZALEPLON
Sonata is used to treat insomnia
and other kind of sleep problems. Sonata (generic Zaleplon)
affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced
and cause sleep problems (insomnia). The generic name is the
official medical name for the active ingredient of the medicine
and brand name is chosen by the manufacturer. Generic medicines
are sometimes cheaper than brand-name medicines, but the active
ingredient of the medicine is the same in both. Knowing the
generic name of a medicine you can choose the cheapest one
on the market.
SONATA (ZALEPLON) has a half-life of only 1 hour,
the shortest of any other prescription treatment for insomnia.
That means it is short acting and leaves your body quickly.
It's short half-life explains why SONATA® can be taken at
bedtime or later, after you have tried to fall asleep on your
own. SONATA® helps you get the sleep you need and wake up
alert.
The National Institutes of Health says a short half-life
is preferable:
For patients who need to be alert because of occupational
or societal demands, short-acting medications are preferred.
SONATA (ZALEPLON) has it's effect during the first part of
the night; then your body's natural sleep pattern takes over.
SONATA (ZALEPLON) has been shown to cause no significant residual
effects the next day as long as you have at least 4 hours
to sleep before becoming active again. So if you have trouble
falling asleep and want to avoid the grogginess associated
with medicines that have a longer half-life you may want to
ask your doctor about SONATA (ZALEPLON).
